M.K Stalin Cricket Tournament (10-03-2010)

Yesterday, our cricket team was participating in the M.K. Stalin 2010 cricket tournament , which was conducted in the Kozhipannai Ground . It was a 3rd tournament in past 2 years. This new concept has been brought by DMK to attract the youngsters towards their party. Whichever team participate in this tournament all their 11 players will get DMK party T shirts. Moreover, without any participation fee they can experience playing cricket under floodlight. As compare to last year, more than 2000 teams participating in this year’s tournament. This time, in our team Me, Senthil, Sasi, Raman, Dharani, Appu, Vinoth, Rajesh, Sundar, Nanda and one new guy. The tournament was started on last Monday, but as per schedule our turn came yesterday only. Our match was started around at 6:30 PM and it was a 8 over’s match in that each bowlers can bowl maximum of 2 overs. The toss was called by senthil but as usual he lost the toss and opponent have chose to bat first. After, we all came to field the first over was bowled by new guy and he Stroke wicket in his first ball and gave 7 runs. Next over was bowled by our great Dharani  unexpectedly he had bowled well in that over. Next, vinoth bowled and gave plenty of runs but he came back well. Then, senthil had bowled his spell though he gave few runs had got the important wickets, in that he had one great catch of his own bowling. In the Meantime, one of the commentator had praised our team for playing good cricket. Finally, in the end of the 1st innings opponent have scored 50 runs in their 8 over’s.

After that, We have started our 2nd innings by opening with Raman and Appu after they got out me and senthil had a partnership for another 3 over’s scored almost run a ball . in that partnership senthil was playing big shots and I was just rotating the singles for him. As usual, after he got out I tried my best but our middle order was wasting the deliveries and finally we lost the match by 10 runs. Though, we lost the match we all enjoyed playing under floodlight and spent few hours to watch another match.
